Little Popcorn Store

About the Client

A cherished landmark in the heart of downtown Wheaton, Illinois since 1921 – The Little Popcorn Shop is perhaps one of the most loved and narrowest stores in the Chicagoland area measuring 49 inches wide by 60 feet long. The store’s small, quaint space is like walking into a Norman Rockwell painting. Popcorn is freshly popped, candy lines the wall, and locals greet each other warmly while welcoming newcomers to this very special place called The Little Popcorn Store.

The Project

The Little Popcorn Store was in need of a logo identity, which would be applied to an e-commerce website, business cards, signage, posters, ornaments, and postcards.

Logo Identity

Referred by some as "the popcorn store with the red door," the color red played a central role in establishing the color scheme for the branding.

The style of the logo harkens back to yesteryear - with a little splash of nostalgia and circus thrown into the mix.

Both a horizonal and vertical version of the logo was created to fit various print and digital uses.

Online Presence

The store did not have a website, so the URL www.LittlePopcornStore.com was purchased. We designed a custom website using the secure Shopify e-commerce platform - selected for their affordability and ease of setup.

We also facilitated the legal transfer of ownership of their Facebook Page from an individual who started the Page, to control by the store. We manage the stores online presence, and have grown the "Likes" from 1,200 to over 12,000.

Christmas Ornaments

Many years ago, a local Wheaton business created a series of ornaments featuring scenes from around Wheaton. One very popular ornament was their version of The Little Popcorn Store.

We were asked to create a new ornament for the store. We located a vendor, designed the ornament, and continue to process all online orders.

Based upon the success of the glass ornament, a second ornament was created. Using 100% pewter, the flat ornament was in the shape of the narrow store with an inscription on the back retelling the rich history of the store.
